Council to Consider Changes to Commercial Outdoor Patio Rules
WHO:
Councilmember Andrew J. Ginther
Department of Development Staff
WHEN:
Tuesday, October 27, 2009, 5:30 PM
WHERE:
City Council Chambers
City Hall
WHAT:
Columbus City Councilmember Andrew J. Ginther, Chair of the Development Committee, will hold a public hearing to discuss a proposed City Code change impacting commercial outdoor patios.
The Columbus Zoning Code identifies land uses requiring special permits due to unique characteristics such as location, design, size, operation, circulation, or need for public services. The Board of Zoning Adjustment (BZA) has the power to grant Special Permits for certain uses where it is shown that the special use will not pose a substantial detriment to the public good, the general purpose and intent of the zoning district, or the general character of the neighborhood.
The proposed Zoning Code revision will add commercial outdoor patios that are within 125 feet of residentially zoned property to the list of land uses requiring special permits.
Public testimony will be accepted. Those wishing to testify should fill out a speaker slip on the day of the hearing between the hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm in the lobby entrance located on the Front Street side of City Hall. Free parking is available in the Gay Street parking lot on the north side of City Hall after 5:00 pm.
This meeting will be broadcast live on GTC-3.
