Eileen Y. Paley

EYPaley

(Chair: Judiciary & Court Administration; and Utilities Committees)

Eileen Paley joined The Columbus City Council in January 2009 but has played an integral role in delivering quality city services to the residents of Columbus for years.

As Commissioner for the Columbus Civil Service Commission, Paley was keenly aware of the fact that the strength and integrity of city government can be found in the people who serve in the various City departments and offices.

Paley will use her experience in public service to ensure that the high level of customer service that residents have come to expect from their city government continues during her tenure on Council.

Paley is an experienced attorney in a wide variety of legal disciplines with more than 20 years of professional knowledge to guide her while considering the wide variety of issues that come before the City Council. As Chair of the Judiciary and Court Administration Committee, Paley works closely with the Municipal Court Judges and Clerk, as well as the City Attorney’s office to provide the necessary resources to run one of the largest and busiest Municipal Courts in the state of Ohio.

As chair of the Utilities Committee, Paley is also committed to supporting the City’s mission to provide safe, reliable services - sanitary sewer, water and electric - at the lowest possible cost to the consumer while having the least environmental impact possible. The Department of Public Utilities provides numerous programs to assist lower income residents and is currently in the midst of a multi-year Wet Weather Management Plan that will help prevent storm sewer overflows into homes.

Paley holds a Juris Doctorate from the Capital Law School and a Bachelor of Psychology from The Ohio State University.

Other accomplishments and community involvement includes:

  • Board Member, National Council of Jewish Women.
  • Board Member, The Neighborhood House.
  • Vice President, Dynamic Leadership, Inc., a group that promotes projects to improve diversity in the community.
